Ely visited Stowmarket for the first time since the 2017/18 season and made necessary changes to their squad. Early in the match, Ely was awarded a penalty but failed to secure points as Jake Alsop's attempt was off target. Subsequently, Stowmarket capitalised on a missed tackle and scored a converted try to take the lead. Ely responded with a converted try from Alsop, equalising the scores.

A misplaced pass shifted momentum in favour of Stowmarket, who then scored their second converted try, making it 14-7. Ely narrowed the gap through an Alsop penalty, but Stowmarket extended their advantage with another try. Another Stowmarket try followed, although the conversion attempt struck the upright. Play was paused due to thunderstorms, and upon resumption, Alsop added three points for Ely with a penalty. Just before halftime, Stowmarket increased their lead with a converted penalty, resulting in a 26-13 score at the break.

In the opening attack of the second half, Stowmarket added a converted try to lead 33-13. Ely responded with a try as Tom Gunbie's kick enabled Alfie Allen and Craig Rugg to touch down in the corner, though the conversion was unsuccessful. Another Ely attack led to a try by Declan Wolverson, but again the conversion was missed, reducing the deficit to 10 points. Lory Martin then scored under the posts for Ely, with Gunbie adding the conversion.

Late in the match, two intercepted passes by Stowmarket resulted in additional tries, taking their total beyond 50 points. The final score was a 52-30 win for Stowmarket.
